Explore the exciting possibilities of pottery on throwing by the Wheel, make simple surface decoration, glazing and firing. We welcome beginners or people with little experience in wheel throwing to enjoy our intensive weekend course.
We focus on foundational techniques and practice in a playful manner the basic wheel throwing techniques: such as centering, pulling, and creating form.
In addition to the fundamentals, we work with function and aesthetics of the form. This enables you to create small bowls, cups and vases on your own.
Although the course is focused on learning rather than making pieces, you will be able to keep 5 of the pieces you make
Day one, during the first day, you will learn how to center, pull and throw a basic cylinder and other simple shapes.
Day two, during the second day, we will be trimming your pots, practice surface decorating and finishing all your pieces for firing.
Day three, during the third and last day of the course, you will learn how to glaze your pieces. You can choose from a wide selection of our different glazes, all made at the studio. If you're not able to attend the glazing evening, we can offer to do this for you from our preselected glazes. If you're not able to attend the glazing evening we can glaze your pieces in a single layered studio glaze.
